Email forwarding to mobile phones part 2

April 24, 2009 | Computer, Internet

On my previous post I talked about the how to send free sms from pc to mobile phones. Now I will teach you how to forward important emails to your mobile phones in the form of sms. I use the service of M2M.ph (Mail 2 Mobile).

Just like other free sms services, M2M’s purpose is to send free sms to any mobile phones using an email. But I used this service in a much higher level. The first time I tested their service, email forwarding is not possible. I emailed their support asking them if they can allow email forwarding to mobile phones. On the next day, I received their reply.

Hi Joven,

Mail forwarding has been allowed, please try again :)

Thanks!

Here’s how to use m2m.ph for email forwarding:

If you want to send text messages to your recipient’s mobile phone using your email:

1. Type in the recipient’s mobile number (To:, cc:, or bcc:,) in this format Ex. [0916xxxxxxx@m2m.ph]
2. Write your message as you are writing your email.
3. Send!

The recipient does not need to pay anything in order to read your message. But after receiving 4 messages, the recipient must reply to at least one message to continue receiving text messages from your email. Each reply costs PhP 2.50.

I would suggest you use Gmail if you want to forward your emails to your mobile phones. Yahoo Mail’s email forwarding is not free.

To set up email forwarding on your Gmail account: (use this option if you want to forward all emails to your mobile phone)

1. Go to Settings
2. Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
3. Forward a copy of incoming mail to mobilenumber@m2m.ph
4. Save

Creating filters (recommended)

1. Go to Settings
2. Filters tab
3. Create new filter
4. Choose your criteria and click next step
5. Check forward it to mobilenumber@m2m.ph
6. Click Create Filter

I would recommend that you filter email forwarding to important contacts only. You don’t want to forward spam emails to your mobile phone.
