Food Trip: Largest Burger and Pomodoro with Bologna
June 27, 2009 | Food | 3 Comments
Last time I blogged about the smallest burger I have ever eaten. Now I will talk about the biggest burger in town (Iloilo City). Perry Todds is the home of the biggest burger in town. It is located at Jaro, Iloilo City, in front of Jaro Elementary School.
This grilled burger is about 4-5 inches in diameter and costs Php100. It is enough for 2-4 persons. For me, the taste is just an average but you will be overwhelmed with its size. Its ingredients include grilled beef patty, onions (lots of it), lettuce and fresh tomatoes. You can also add some add-ons for additional cost.
Another food included in our “food trip” is a plate of Pomodoro with Bologna. This pasta tastes good (really good). It costs Php120 (I think) and is good for 2-3 persons. One serving includes two slices of toasted bread.

Should Sites with NoFollow Link Attribute be Avoided?
June 20, 2009 | Internet, SEO | 1 Comment
This is a common question for webmasters. What is the impact of nofollow link attributes to the sites linked to? What does it mean if a website has nofollow attributes?
By the way, nofollow link attribute should not be confused with the noindex, nofollow in the meta tags. They are different. Noindex, nofollow on meta tags tells robots not to index or to follow the page thus it will not appear in search results and it will not be indexed on the search engine. The meta tag looks like this: <meta name =”robots” content=”nofollow” /> . It is placed on the header before the </head> tag of the page. This is one way to hide your thank you page to protect your product from being stolen.
Nofollow link attribute on the other hand looks like this: <a href=”www.website.com” rel=”nofollow”>Click here</a>. According to Google, attribute instruct robots not to crawl a specific link. This was created to eliminate spam comments on blogs.
Here is how Google handles nofollow links:
“We don’t follow them. This means that Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. Essentially, using nofollow causes us to drop the target links from our overall graph of the web. However, the target pages may still appear in our index if other sites link to them without using nofollow, or if the URLs are submitted to Google in a Sitemap. Also, it’s important to note that other search engines may handle nofollow in slightly different ways.”
Now back to the main question, should we avoid or ignore sites with nofollow link attributes? For me the answer is NO. Even though Google does not really follow the link or does not give value to that link, other search engines handle this attribute differently. Take for example Yahoo. It follows the link even it has nofollow link attributes. I tried it myself. I checked a website on Yahoo Site Explorer and it counts links coming from Yahoo Answers. Yahoo Answers has a nofollow attribute. Other search engines may give less value to that link but they might not really ignore it.
One of the reasons why I would suggest that you put links from nofollow sites is to make linkbuilding natural. If you post to some authority sites such as Yahoo Answers, it can be of great help. Your site may not appear on the search results but the page on Yahoo Answers where your site is posted could appear on higher rank. This can bring more traffic to your site. You can set the linking from nofollow sites to 1/10. It means that if you create backlinks from ten websites, make one of them link from a nofollow yet an authority site.

I’m on Plurk
June 5, 2009 | Blogging, Internet | No Comments
My friends, Amy and Shiela invited me to join them on Plurk. I ignored their invites at first because I find it to be non-sense. What’s the point of telling other people all over the globe about what you’re doing, feeling, thinking, etc?
But when Amy told me that she had helped a friend in need because of Plurk (I will not discuss further more about it), then I said to myself, I’ll give it a try. I joined Plurk and post some responses. And I somehow enjoyed it! I invited some of my friends who are outside of the country to join because I think it is a convenient way to communicate, get updates of what is happening to them, and share some information about our friends here in the Philippines. It’s fun!
For those of you who don’t know anything about Plurk; Plurk is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as plurks) through short messages or links, which can be up to 140 text characters in length.
Updates are then shown on the user’s home page using a timeline which lists all the updates received in chronological order, and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Users can respond to other users’ updates from their timeline through the Plurk.com website, by instant messaging, or by text messaging. (reference: Wikipedia)
If you want to blog but hate to write longer posts, Plurk is the best thing for you. It’s fun, easy to use and has a very simple layout. Give it a try.

May 16, 2009 | Food, Online Selling, Personal | 2 Comments
Bourbon Street’s Sliders (Tiny Hamburgers) are the smallest burgers I have ever eaten. I think its 3-3.5 inches in diameter. It is a petite sirloin of beef with mozzarella cheese served with their house special dressing. Three pieces per serving and cost PhP165 or $3.50.
Bourbon Street is located at Red Square Garden, Glicerio Pison Avenue, Diversion Road, Manduriao, Iloilo City 5000, Philippines. They are also known for their Bourbon BBQ Ribs (grilled lender pork ribs served with Bourbon BBQ sauce.

Save disk space in Windows
May 9, 2009 | Computer | No Comments
Here are some tips on how you can save disk space in Windows.
Decrease the disk usage of the Recycle Bin.
You can rather set the files to be removed immediately when deleted and not put in the recycle bin or you can decrease the space it uses to hold those deleted files.
To configure this option:
- Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
- Select Properties.
- Adjust the Maximum size of your recycle bin.
- Check “Do not move files to he Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted.” if you want to immediately remove all deleted files.
Disable Hibernation.
Click here to know more about Hibernation in Windows. If you are not using this option, you can save some space by disabling Hibernation in Windows.
To do this:
- Right click on the desktop and click Properties.
- Go to Screen Saver tab.
- Click the Power button under Monitor Power.
- Click the Hibernate Tab.
- Uncheck Enable Hibernation.
- Click OK.
Delete Restore Points in Windows.
The maximum size used by Windows for its Restore Points is 12% of the available hard disk space. You can decrease the value in the System Restore tab but I think that is not a good idea.
But if you really need or want to delete Restore Points to save disk space, follow these steps:
- Click on Start button.
- Select All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup. Or You can run “cleanmgr” (without quotes).
- Go to More Options tab.
- Click Clean up under System Restore.
- Press Yes to confirm the delete operation.
Note: The Disk Cleanup utility will allow you to delete all Restore Points except for the most recent Restore Point.
Run Disk Cleanup.
Run Disk Cleanup using the procedure above and delete all temporary files on the Disk Cleanup tab.

Manny Pacquiao, the Pride of Filipino People
May 3, 2009 | Personal, Sports | No Comments
The most awaited battle between the East and the West had come into conclusion. Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao won over a tough opponent Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton. He is now the new Ring Magazine and IBO light welterweight champion and is considered as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
In the middle of the 1st round, Pacquiao threw a powerful right hook to the head sending Hatton to the canvas. He got up after the eight counts but Pacquiao landed series of punches putting him down for the 2nd time before the end of the round.
On the start of the second round, Hatton landed some good shots of his own. But approaching the final seconds, Pacquiao threw a huge left hook that sent Hatton to the canvas for the third time.
Referee Kenny Bayless took one look at Hatton and declared the end of the fight at 2:59 of the 2nd round.
“I didn’t have to count” Bayless said.
Once again Manny Pacquiao brought pride to all Filipinos. He is one of the nation’s heroes that can unite the Filipino people.
Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 knockouts) earned $12 million for the fight, while Hatton (45-2) earned $8 million. (That’s a lot of money! lol)
What’s next for the Pacman? I guess it would be a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be back on the ring facing Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in a fight entitled “Number One vs. Numero Uno.”
