Why I choose .info domain?
Reasons why I choose .info domain:
- It is the cheapest domain name.
- The purpose of my site is to provide information.
- This is a personal site not intended for commercial purposes.
Many people say that .info domains are no use. This domain has been associated with spammers, junk sites and is used in blackhat seo techniques. Other people say that search engines don’t take .info sites seriously. This can be true. Try to take a specific keyword and search it on any search engine. You will notice that no .info site would appear on the search results.
Here are my thoughts on this. Because of the idea that .info sites are associated with spammers, most people won’t buy this domain. That would explain why there are less or no results found on search engines. The fact that .info sites are used by spammer is true. Spammers use .info domains because of the price. .Info domains are sold at $0.99 on Godaddy. But this does not mean that all .info domains are junk and all owners of .info domains are spammers.
I have seen high ranking .info domain names and here are some examples. Try to search the keyword “pr checker” on Google. www.prchecker.info (PR7) would come up number 1 on the search result. You can also try “mac os x chat client”. With over 1,000,000 results, colloquy.info (PR 6) would appear on the first page of Google. Another legitimate site is the website of Metropolitan Transportation Authority – http://mta.info/.
This would prove that not all .info sites are junk and spam. Domain name suggests its purpose. See sample list below:

The usefulness of a website is not based on the domain name but based on its content.
